Robbie Ftorek Jerseys

Robbie Ftorek is a retired professional ice hockey player in the NFL. He played in the league from 1972 to 1986. In 1991, he was elected into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame. Ftorek is the current head coach for the Ontario Hockey League's Erie Otters. In 1972, he competed for the United States Olympic Hockey Team in the Winter Olympics which clinched the silver medal. He was also in the “Pool B” and was named into the 1972 Winter Olympics' All-Star. He was drafted by the New England Whalers of the World Hockey Association but signed with the Detroit Red Wings of the NHL. His relatively small physique allowed him to appear in only a few games. Because of that, he decided to play in the WHA where he was traded by the Whalers to the Phoenix Roadrunners. Ftorek excelled with the Roadrunners and won the 1977 Gordie Howe Trophy as the league's MVP. He would be the first American to win the award. In the 1976 Canada Cup, he was named as the Team USA's most valuable player. After playing for the Cincinnati Stingers, he decided to play in the NHL once again but for the Quebec Nordiques this time before retiring.
