Reginald Howard White was also known as “The Minister of Defense” and played 15 seasons as a defensive end on the National Football League. He was born on December 19, 1961 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006 and among his many accolades was being a 2- time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, 13- time Pro Bowl and 12- time All- Pro selection. His college career was spent in Tennessee where he was named SEC Player of the Year in his senior season in 1983. Prior to playing for the NFL, he signed with the Memphis Showboats of the United States Football League where he was a dominant figure. He made his NFL debut in 1985 for the Philadelphia Eagles where he played until 1993. As a free agent, he signed with the Green Bay Packers. He helped the Packers reach 2 Super Bowls, and win the Super Bowl XXXI. In 1998, He was named NFL Defensive Player of the Year. He retired for a year then returned to the gridiron to play for the Carolina Panthers . After playing for a year, he retired permanently. Aside from football, he also tried professional wrestling and was an evangelical minister. He died of cardiac arrythmia on December 26, 2004.
