Paul Westphal was born on November 30, 1950 in Torrance, California and currently the head coach of Sacramento Kings and a retired professional basketball player. He played for Aviation High School then with the University of Southern California before being drafted by the Boston Celtics in 1972 as the 10th pick overall. After three seasons and a championship ring with the Celtics, he was traded to Phoenix Suns and led it to the 1976 NBA Finals. According to the experts it was greatest game ever played in basketball, in which Westphal executed many memorable plays. He was traded to the Seattle Supersonics for Dennis Johnson and stayed there for one season before he headed to New York Knicks. During the year of 1983 Paul went back to Phoenix but played only 59 games due to injuries. He became the coach of the 1992 Phoenix Suns squad that included players like; Kevin Johnson, Dan Majerle, Richard Dumas, and the newly acquired Danny Ainge and Charles Barkley . He made it to the finals but they lost to the Chicago Bulls. He was also the coach of Seattle Supersonics before they fired him in 2000-01. From there Westphal worked on the Pepperdine University as their head coach and achieved a large berth at the NCAA tournament.
