Paul Malone Gardner, a former ice hockey center, was born on March 5, 1956 in Fort Erie, Ontario. A 5 ft. 11 in. left shooter, Gardner debuted in National Hockey League in 1976 and in World Hockey Association in the same year. He played for the team Kansas City Scouts. According to sources, Gardner played for parts in the three seasons of Kansas City Scouts when it moved to Colorado. A very skilled scorer, he also played for Pittsburgh Penguins, Toronto Maple Leafs, Buffalo Sabres and Washington Capitals. In 1985 and 1986, he scored twice which made him lead the American Hockey League. Gardner became a very popular player and many reviews say he was a promising hockey center during his time. A son of the former National Hockey Player Cal Gardner, Paul also became a coach after his playing career faded. He was the head coach of Newmarket Saints for four seasons in the American Hockey League. He and his former head coach, Barry Trotz was promoted to NHL after moving to Nashville where they worked for Predators. Reviews say he also became an assistant coach for Baltimore Skipjacks and Portland Pirates. He also became coach for the team Hamburg Freezers of Deutsche Eishockey Liga.
