Martin Gelianas is a retired professional ice hockey player. He was a center in the National Hockey League and is best remembered for playing with the Vancouver Canucks. Gelianas became active from 1988 to 2008. Before making it to the NHL, he first played for the Hull Olympiques in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in 1987. After ending that season as the CHL Rookie of the Year, he was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings during the 1983 NHL Draft. Gelianas never got to play for the Kings and was traded to the Edmonton Oilers. He was able to play for the Oilers in the 1989 season when the team won the Stanley Cup. In 1993, he was traded to the Quebec Nordiques but only spent 31 games with the Nordiques before being claimed by the Vancouver Canucks. During the 1996 season with the Canucks, Gelianas was able to make 35 goals and 68 points. After being injured, he was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes in 1998. His most memorable game with the Hurricanes was when he made the last goal during a game in the Eastern Conference Finals that would seal the franchise's win.
