Mark Parrish is a National Hockey League player born in Minnesota. He is a graduate of Bloomington Jefferson High School and is a former hockey athlete in the said high school. After his notable high school career, he proceeded to join the Western Collegiate Hockey Association where he played for the St. Cloud State Huskies. He logged impressive statistics as a college freshman and was immediately signed by the Colorado Avalanche during the National Hockey League draft in 1996. However, he spent one more season in the St. Cloud State University and the next two seasons in the minor hockey league Western Hockey League. There, he played for the Seattle Thunderbirds and logged 92 points for his 54 appearances in the league. The Avalanche sent him to the Florida Panthers with which he had his first National Hockey League game in 1988. He instantly became a strong power forward of the team and recorded 37 points in his first year in the league. He spent a total of two years with the Panthers and was then traded to the New York Islanders. With the team, he logged career-high statistics and had his first All-Star Game in the National Hockey League. He also became part of the Los Angeles Kings and the Minnesota Wild.
