Lawrence Lee Rothschild currently works as the pitching coach of the Chicago Cubs of the Major League Baseball. He is from Chicago, Illinois and was born on March 12, 1954. He attended Homewood- Flossmoor High School and played for the Florida State Seminoles . Rothschild started his professional player career when he signed for the Cincinnati Reds as an amateur free agent on June 10, 1975. He was then drafted by the Detroit Tigers on December 8, 1980 and finally made his major league debut on September 11, 1981 in a game against the Cleveland Indians . His last game as a player in the majors was in a game against the Boston Red Sox exactly a year after his debut. He then served as a coach for the Cincinnati Reds from 1986 to 1993, winning the 1990 World Series title against the Oakland Athletics. He joined the Tampa Bay Devil Rays from 1998 to 2001, then worked as a consultant for the Florida Marlins before finally getting hired by the Chicago Cubs in 2002.
