Harvey Haddix was a professional baseball player in the 1950s to the 1960s. He was a left-handed pitcher and was known by his nickname of “The Kitten”. He played for the longest time for the St. Louis Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Haddix was from Ohio and he was signed by the St. Louis Cardinals as an amateur agent in 1947. After playing in the minors for a handful of seasons, he was called to the majors in 1952. He would show his true abilities as a pitcher early in his career. The Braves went on to win that game with a 1-0 score. By the time Haddix retired, he was selected to a total of three All-Star Games (1953-55), was able to win the World Series as a player (1960) and received the Gold Glove Award thrice (1958-60).
