Harry Walker, nicknamed Harry the Hat, is a former American professional baseball player. He was born in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Walker played as centerfielder for several teams in the Major League Baseball; the St. Louis Cardinals, Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago Cubs and the Cincinnati Reds . Walker was listed at 6 ft. 2 in. and 175 lbs. He batted using his right and threw with his left. Walker began his pro career in the major leagues after he was signed by the Philadelphia Phillies as amateur free agent in 1937. Walker was not able to make his pro debut with the Phillies and instead he was sent to the St. Louis Cardinals before 1940 season and made his debut on that season on September 25, 1940. Walker's major career highlight was being one of the stars of the Cardinals' World Series Championship team in 1946. After his seven-season career with the Cardinals, Walker was traded back to the Phillies along with Freddy Schmidt in exchange for Ron Northey on May 1947. His batting title came on that year, after he was traded from his original team, when he had a batting average of .363. He had his last game with the Cardinals on August 19, 1955.
