Frenchy Fuqua is a retired football player in the National Football League. He played in the NFL from 1969 to 1979. Before turning professional, Fuqua attended Morgan State University where he played college football. He made the leap to the NFL after he was selected by the New York Giants during the 1969 NFL Draft. Fuqua only stayed with the Giants for a season. He was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1970. It was during this particular season that Fuqua would be part of NFL history by being the intended recipient of the Terry Bradshaw's pass which led to the Immaculate Reception. He is best remembered for being one of the eccentric dressers among the players in the league. He would go on to give himself the nickname, “The French Count”. His fans were known as “Frenchy's Foreign Legion”. The best season that Fuqua played in the league was during his first year with the Steelers. He was the able to record 691 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. In a game against the Philadelphia Eagles, he rushed 218 yards which would be a team record.
