Emile Francis was born September 13, 1926 and hails from North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada. He was part of the National Hockey League as a former player, coach, and general manager. He played for the New York Rangers as a goalie. Another Pro club he belonged to was the Chicago Black Hawks. His playing career started from 1943 to 1960. In 1947, Francis entered the Chicago Black Hawks and this was his start in the NHL. From 1948 to 1952, he was a back-up goaltender in the New York Rangers team. Francis has been into some minor league teams like the AHL and WHL and the Vancouver Canucks. Sources say that in 1945, Francis was the first one to use the first baseman's glove with a cuff while playing as a first goaltender. Later on in his career, he became a coach for the Guelph Royals. Then in 1965, he landed as the head coach of the Rangers. This ended in the year 1975.
