Darren Woodson is an American pro football player who played as safety for the Dallas Cowboys in the National Football League and also served as a football analyst after his playing career. He was born in Phoenix, Arizona and graduated from Arizona State University where he also played college football. Woodson's pro football career began after he was drafted in the second round of the 1992 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys . As a rookie in 1992, Woodson participated in sixteen games and started two of them and at the end of the 2003 seasons; Woodson had his career high 155 tackles. Woodson missed most of the 2004 seasons due to a herniated disc in his spine. Following this career-ending injury, Woodson officially announced his retirement in December 2004. Upon his retirement, Woodson was the Cowboy's all time leading tackler recording 1,350 tackles in his career. After his retirement, Woodson worked for Entertainment Sports Programming Network or ESPN as a football analyst, where he appeared on some of its programs such as NFL Live and SportsCenter. Throughout his thirteen season career with the Cowboys, Woodson was a Pro Bowl selection for five consecutive times, and also a three-time AP All Pro selection First team and three-time Super Bowl champion.
