He attended Crescent City Christian High School where he earned All-State and district MVP during his junior and senior years. A right-handed pitcher, he was selected by Tampa Bay Devil Rays straight from high school in round 34 of 2001 Major League Baseball Draft. He signed on August 23, 2001 but did not play as a professional until 2002. In 2002, he played for Single-A where he set a record of 2.26 ERA and became 10th in overall minor league baseball. He debuted to Major Baseball League on August 1, 2003 for the team Tampa Bay Devil Rays. He was the youngest player of the team in club history. He was bale to make an impressive 2-0 record and 3.60 ERA in 154 appearances for the Rays. Reviews say Gaudin was traded to Toronto Blue Jays on December 12, 2004 and to Oakland Athletics on December 5, 2005. In 2006, he played for Sacramento River Cats which was an Athletics Triple-A team. During the first season, he made career-high earned run average though his batting average that time was the lowest. A right-handed batter and thrower, he also became part of the team San Diego Padres and Portland Beavers.
