Bret Michael Hedican was born on August 10, 1970 in Minnesota, USA. He is a former National Hockey League player who was drafted by the St. Louis Blues in 1988. A graduate of St. Cloud State University, he was a 198th overall pick in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft. He played his first NHL season in 1991 with the Blues. After spending three seasons with his drafting team, he was moved to the Vancouver Canucks. He joined the team on March 21, 1994 together with Nathan LaFayette and Jeff Brown. Hedican played for five seasons with the Canucks and reviews say he had impressive plays with the team. However, he was then traded to the Florida Panthers for Dave Gagner, Kevin Weekes, Ed Jovanoski and Mike Brown. He joined the Carolina Hurricanes afterwards and had his first Stanley Cup with the Panthers. He spent five and a half seasons with the Florida Panthers before he signed with the Anaheim Ducks for the 2008-2009 seasons. He had his 1000th game in the NHL on November 21, 2008. He went to retirement on September 6, 2009 and joined the CSN California as a game analyst for the game coverage of the San Antonio Sharks.
