Bobby Holik is a former professional ice hockey player who was born and raised in Czechoslovakia. Holik was able to appear in the National Hockey League for a total of twelve seasons. Holik's father is famous hockey coach Jaroslav Holik. Prior to appearing in the NHL, Holik played for the HC Dukla Jihlava for the Czechoslovak First Ice Hockey League for a total of three seasons. Holik was then selected during the first round of the 1989 NHL Entry Draft. Holik played for the Whalers for a total of two seasons before being traded to the New Jersey Devils. Holik played the longest for New Jersey with his stay lasting ten seasons. In 1995 and in 2000, Holik was part of the New Jersey team that helped to secure the Stanley Cup. In the 1997 season, Holik was named into his first NHL All-Star Game and after being able to rack up a total of 65 points and 29 goals for that season. Holik was named to the All-Star Game of the succeeding season. During the 2002 season, Holik signed with the New York Rangers after gaining free agency and then with the Atlanta Thrashers where he was named the team captain.
