Bill Greif Jerseys

Retired right-handed pitcher Bill Greif was born in Fort Stockton in Texas. He went to Reagan High School in Austin. Deciding to forego with college, he entered the 1968 MLB amateur draft. During the third round of the draft, he was selected by the Houston Astros. Before making his MLB debut in 1971, he was assigned to play in the minors. Greif first played for the Covington Astros of the Appalachian League, then in the Peninsula Astros of the Carolina League. Greif also appeared in the Columbus Astros of the Southern League and the Oklahoma 89ers in the American Association before being called up to the MLB in 1971. During Greif's rookie year in the MLB, he came up with a 1-1 win loss record and had a 5.06 earned run average. He was traded to the San Diego Padres in 1971 in exchange for Dave Roberts. Although his first season with San Diego was shaky, he was able to bounce back in 1973 with a 3.21 earned run average, a huge improvement from the 5.60 earned run average that he posted the season before. In 1976, he was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for Luis Melendez and then to the Montreal Expos later that year. Playing part of the 1976 season with the St. Louis Cardinals, Greif posted a 4.12 earned run average. Check out original MLB apparel from official-authentic-jersey.com.
