Bill Freehan Jerseys

William Ashley Freehan was born in November 29, 1941 at Detroit. This committed and consistent player stayed and spent his entire fifteen-year career with the team Detroit Tigers. The American League considered him as a premier catcher for many years thus he was named an All-Star in each of the eleven seasons. During these times, he was in at least 75 games and in 1968, he was MVP runner-up with his great skills in handling of a pitching staff. Sources say that Freehan was a winner of five consecutive Gold Glove Awards and he also held the major league record for highest career fielding percentage until the year 2002, as well as records for career putouts and total chances. At the end of his career he was considered to be ranked in ninth place in major league history in games caught. Throughout his whole career Freehan has a total of 200 home runs, 2502 total bases. This only placed him after Yogi Berra and Bill Dickey which are among the great American League catchers. Freehan is known to play with the hometown team Tigers, ranked seventh in the MVP balloting, and managed to have an 11 All-Star Game appearance even if he is not part of the Baseball Hall of Fame. Right after officially retiring, he mentored Tigers catcher Lance Parrish.
