Bernie Federko was born Bernard Allan Federko on May 12, 1956 in Foam Lake, Saskatchewan in Canada. He played in the NHL as a center. He played in the WHL for the Saskatoon Blades where he was able to set the team record for assists. He played for the blades for three seasons before being drafted by the St. Louis Blues during the 1976 NHL Amateur Draft. He first played for the Kansas City Royals for the Central Hockey League before being called to play for the St. Louis Blues during the middle of the season. Federko was able to play for the St. Louis Blues for a total of 31 games. He was able to show stellar performance throughout his stay with the St. Louis Blues. He was able to score an impressive 95 points during the 1978-1979 NHL season. He would surpass that record by scoring 100 points in four different seasons. He was traded to the Detroit Red Wings.
