Ben Wade is a former American professional baseball player. He played as pitcher for several teams during his pro career in the Major League Baseball; the Chicago Cubs, Brooklyn Dodgers , St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates. He was born in Morehead City, North Carolina and is a younger brother of Jake Wade who was also a Major League Baseball pitcher. Wade was 6 ft. 3 in. and 195 lbs. He both batted and threw right handed. Wade started his professional career in the major leagues after signing as amateur free agent in 1940 with the Brooklyn Dodgers. However, according to sources, after signing with the Dodgers, Wade was sent to other teams in the major league such as; before the start of the 1941 seasons, he was sent by the Dodgers to the Cincinnati Reds, in 1946 seasons to the Pittsburgh Pirates, And in 1947 to the Chicago Cubs .He made his professional debut in the major leagues on April 30, 1948 with the Cubs. Wade, however, left the Cubs after a season and joined back the Dodgers playing for three seasons from 1952 to 1954. Wade's final game was with the Pittsburgh Pirates on June 12, 1955. Ben wade passed away at the age of 80 on December 2, 2002 in his home in Los Angeles, California.
