He began to have his professional career in the Major League Baseball in 1998 when he was drafted by the San Francisco Giants. He spent his first four years as a professional with the Giants and then moved to the Pittsburgh Pirates team in 2001. He had a two-year stint with the team and was soon traded to the Chicago White Sox in 2003.
