Hailing from Bridgehampton, New York, A. J. Pierzynski is a professional baseball athlete who started his professional career with the Minnesota Twins. He was a graduate of Dr. Phillips High School where he spent his initial baseball years and was included in the All-State first team. After his successful high school career, he was offered to be a baseball varsity athlete at University of Tennessee and at the same time was selected by the Minnesota Twins to play for them. Pierzynski opted the latter choice and started playing professionally in the minors. His first professional team was the Gulf Coast League Twins and also became part of a few other minor league teams like the New Britain Rock Cats, the Fort Wayne Wizards and the Elizabethton Twins. After four years in the minors, Pierzyski finally had his debut at the Major League Baseball on September 9, 1998 and became an irregular player for the Twins in the next five seasons. He was able to play in 49 games for the Minnesota Twins until the 2000 season. He appeared in the American League Division Series in the 2002 season. He also joined the San Francisco Giants after being traded to the team and was also part of the All-Star team in 2006. Pierynski also appeared in the American League Championships in the 2005 season.
